| If you're still having any sort of trouble deciding what type of trainer you want to create, here's a brief synopsis of each type currently available. Keep in mind that we may release a new trainer type at some point in time, so this can be updated in the future. And don't forget, you don't have to follow the typical ideals and goals of your class. You could be a trainer who just wants to be more powerful, and never touch a Gym if you so choose to.
Pokemon Trainer
The most common and wide spread trainer type out there. They believe in catching 'em all and battling it out until they become champion. They mainly focus on battles, but that doesn't mean they can't occasionally try something new, like breeding. If you aren't sure what trainer type to create first, then this is probably the best choice.
Pokemon Coordinator
A Pokémon Coordinator is someone who raises Pokémon to compete in Pokémon Contests.
They raise their Pokémon much like Pokémon Trainers do, although with much more emphasis on beauty and appearances since they are major factors when it comes to points in Contests. They need to train their Pokémon to have beautiful moves, and be able to do well in battles, as a battle tournament is the second round of a Contest.
Breeder
Breeders focus less on battling and more on raising and breeding Pokemon. They are usually very good at grooming and keeping Pokemon happy, while also making a very good PokeFood. Though they can train in the occasional battle, they usually don't enter in leagues or competitions. They are excellent travel companions, and can save a trip to a Pokemon Center after a harsh battle.
Pokemon Ranger
Pokémon Rangers begin as Student Rangers after graduation they become Area Rangers. Pokémon Rangers known as Area Rangers primarily operate out of Ranger Unions in Fiore, Almia and Oblivia where nature is held in higher regard than in other regions. However, a rare promotion can be gained where they become Top Ranger. Pokémon Rangers use Capture Stylers to calm and control wild Pokémon to help them solve ecological problems, defeat criminals using Pokémon to commit crimes, and arrest Pokémon poachers, acting as a sort of cross between a police officer and park ranger. After a Ranger becomes a good Ranger, they have a small chance of becoming Top Rangers with many new privileges.
Pokémon Rangers usually have only one Pokémon - known as their "Partner", that is with them at all times, and has been trained to a high level. Pokémon Rangers do not usually send Pokémon to battle each other directly, but generally use the Pokémon with them to power up the energies and extra settings on their Capture Stylers or to distract wild or enemy Pokémon with attacks that are not directly offensive. These powers are known as Poké Assist and are activated by having the Pokémon Ranger absorb a wild Pokémon's power into their Capture Styler, where upon their Styler gains extra abilities depending on the Pokémon's type.
Aura Trainer
Aura is seen as the life force of the world, every living thing containing and radiating some sort of Aura. Aura trainers are people adept at seeing and controlling this power. It is very difficult to master, and is dangerous to over use as the strain can actually drain the life force of the user, ending in death.
Gym Leader
A Gym Leader is the highest ranking member of a Pokémon Gym. The main job of a Gym Leader is to test Trainers and their Pokémon so that they are strong and resourceful enough to compete against the Elite Four in the games or the Pokémon League in the anime. If a Trainer defeats a Gym Leader in battle, then the Trainer earns that Gym's Badge.
A Gym Leader's job is not just to test upcoming Trainers. They must oversee how their respective Gym is run and to maintain it. Great care must be taken to make sure that their Gym reflects the best environment for the Pokémon type and playing style of choice, usually an environment that suits that type of Pokémon used there (like pools in a Water-type Gym or flowers and plants in a Grass-type Gym). According to Morty, teaching young people how to battle with Pokémon can also be the job of a Gym Leader.
Elite Four
The Elite Four (Japanese: 四天王 Four Heavenly Kings) are four Pokémon Trainers who are regarded as the toughest in their regional Pokémon League, short of the Pokémon League Champion. Those who challenge the Elite Four must have won all eight Badges from that region and face all four and the current Champion consecutively without losing to any of them.
Champion
A Pokémon League Champion normally referred to as simply Champion or Pokémon Champion is the highest known level of rank for a Pokémon Trainer. The title is also colloquially referred to as League Champ.
It usually refers to a Trainer who has completed a Pokémon League by collecting all the necessary Badges, and either winning a regional Pokémon tournament or defeating the Elite Four and the previous Pokémon Champion (if there is one). There is usually only one Pokémon Champion per region at a time. Kanto and Johto share a Champion, while other regions have their own. If a Champion is defeated, they must relinquish their title to the victor; however, the victor can refuse the title, as N did in Pokémon Black and White. It is assumed that the Champion must defend their title against challengers, although this is never explicitly stated. | |
